Setting up Gmail Two-Step Verification adds an extra layer of Security to your Google account. Here’s how you can do it:
Step 1: Access your Google Account by logging in.
- Open a web browser and navigate to the Google Account settings.
- Log in with your Gmail credentials.
Step 2: Access Security Settings
- On the left sidebar, click Security.
- Please scroll down to the section titled “Signing in to Google.”
- Click on 2-Step Verification.
Step 3: Start the Setup
- Click Get Started and sign in again if prompted.
- Google will guide you through the process.
Step 4: Add a Phone Number
- Please provide a phone number where you would like to receive verification codes.
- Select your preferred method to receive the code: a text message or a phone call.
- Click Next.
Step 5: Verify the Code
- Google will soon send a verification code to your mobile phone.
- Enter the code in the provided field.
- Click Next.
Step 6: Enable Two-Step Verification
- Once the code is verified, click Turn On to enable 2-Step Verification.
Step 7: Review and Test
- Log out and log back into your Gmail account to test the 2-step Verification process.
- Ensure your backup options are functional if you lose access to your primary phone.
